Sequins reappeared on the runways for Spring 2010 proving yet again that the trend toward sartorial bling is here to stay, recession or not. But in light of the way designers have been rethinking this shiny adornment for day, night and day-to-night, it should come as no surprise: Sequins can still be luxe, as seen on Lanvin's Paris runways, and sequins can still shimmer on cocktail dresses—albeit the quite unconventional party frocks presented on the models at Miu Miu. But sequins can increasingly come to be equated with day, as illustrated by a very wearable 3.1 Phillip Lim collection which included sequin embellished tops, skirts and a standout sequin blazer. So the choice is yours, celebrate spring with some sparkles in quantities big and small, because you are going to see a lot of them in stores!

One of my favourite couture shows to keep an eye out for is Chanel’s! It never ceases to amaze me how much outside of the box Mr Karl’s mind goes. This year was no exception as the pieces were ethereal and beautiful and yet felt as conceptual as they should be. The only criticizm I have is the models’ hair. A little too GaGa-esque and maybe a little passe. The clothes on the other hand? STUNNING!

The hottest trend that we all can rock this upcoming season is the nudes we’ve spotted on almost every runway. It’s so in, we have to say that nude is the new black. Honestly I was starting to get a bit tired of black (I know, I know, how is that so?). My winter wardrobe consists of tones of black, black, black, and a bit of gray. I add a bit of leopard and red here and there, but to me cold weather is always associated with dark tones. That’s why I’m happy to say that nudes seem like a refreshing concept to me. Can’t wait for some sun so I can match my tan with my tan wardrobe!
